Who is Vlad Tenev?
Born on February 13, 1987, in Varna, Bulgaria, Vladimir Tenev immigrated to the United States at the age of five with his family. His early exposure to global economics—through his parents’ work with the World Bank—sparked a lifelong interest in finance and technology. Tenev excelled academically, attending Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia before earning a B.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University, where he first connected with future business partner Baiju Bhatt. Happy Hearts Dog Rescue, a volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in July 2018 by Alyson and Adri, operates without a physical shelter facility. Instead, it relies entirely on a network of foster homes to save dogs from euthanasia in overcrowded Texas shelters.
